Fred Wawner
Fred Wawner has been appointed head of school for Hawai‘i Preparatory Academy. He is the 13th person to take on the title. Wawner joined HPA in 2009 as director of student life. He became interim head of school in June 2021, demonstrating thoughtful, strategic leadership in guiding the school during the pandemic and its reaccreditation process.
Mahina Paishon Duarte
Mahina Paishon Duarte has been appointed to the Hawai‘i Tourism Authority’s board of directors. Duarte co-founded the social media enterprise Waiwai Collective in 2016. She previously served as head of school, secondary level for Kanu o ka ‘Āina Public Charter School on Hawai‘i Island and head of school for Hālau Kū Māna Public Charter School on O‘ahu.
Toby Taniguchi
Toby Taniguchi is a trustee of the Beneficiaries of the Parker Ranch Foundation Trust, effective Jan. 1. He is CEO of KTA Super Stores and has served on the board of directors of Parker Ranch Inc. since 2018. He is also chairman of the nonprofit Community First, which seeks solutions to improve health and lower medical costs on Hawai‘i Island.
