2 HAWAI‘I ISLAND MIDWEEK SEPTEMBER 14, 2022
Each year, the organization holds a three-day festival that brings in about 30 mentors and 200 attendees. The mentors include hit songwrit- ers, publishers, record labels, pro- ducers and music supervisors (who choose music for film and TV). The festival fills three days and evenings with workshops, panels and perfor- mances.
We are an organization run en- tirely by volunteers. All of the staff mentors volunteer their time, but our organization covers their airline and hotel expenses. Our funding comes from attendee fees, individu- al contributions, private foundation donations and companies that have contributed money for scholarships.

Festival Shines Spotlight On Aspiring Songwriters
The Hawaiʻi Songwriting Festival, now in its 19th year, serves aspiring and professional songwriters who want to network and learn more about the art and business of the industry. The festival was founded in 2003 and held annually on Kaua‘i until 2015, when it moved to Hawai‘i Is- land. The event provides a forum in which local songwriters can meet, learn from and network with the best in the music business from the mainland.
