College Gains Support From $1.8 Million Donation
University of Hawai‘i received a $1.8 million donation from the Stupski Foundation. The monetary gift will support low-income and first-generation college students, particularly those attending UH community colleges — including Hawai‘i Community College, which will use funds to support the Kahuaola Basic Needs Center at its Manono campus in Hilo. The center helps students apply for financial aid and serves as a hub for the Hawai‘i Nutrition Employment and Training Ho‘ola Ike program that gives students access to SNAP benefits and additional funds for childcare, transportation and housing expenses.
