Michael Quanan is executive chef for the King Kamehameha Kona Beach Hotel. He will lead culinary operations for the 455-room property. Quanan’s culinary career began at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, Charthouse and the Nanea Golf Club. He was also sous chef at Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel and executive chef at Sheraton Kona Resort & Spa.
Ian Wesley-Smith has been promoted to partner in Carlsmith Ball’s Hilo office. He is a member of the firm’s litigation and alternative dispute resolution group, where he focuses on commercial litigation. In 2020, he received the Hawai‘i State Bar Association’s Ki‘e Ki‘e Award for outstanding provision of professional pro bono legal services.
Patrick Wong has been promoted to partner in Carlsmith Ball’s Kona office. Wong’s practice is focused on administrative and regulatory matters, business and corporate law, litigation and alternative dispute resolution, and real estate and development. Prior to joining Carlsmith Ball, Wong was the corporation counsel for Maui County.
