Ingredients • 1 egg
• 1 cup flour
• 1 cup ice water
• 6 ounces ono
• 6 ounces shrimp
Directions
Sift the flour. Combine
with egg and ice-cold water in a bowl. Stir but don’t over mix. Cut ono into strips and coat in batter.
Fry in oil until golden brown. Repeat with shrimp.
Sauce Ingredients
• 3/4 cup soy sauce
• 1/3 cup ‘ōpae (dried shrimp)
• 1/2 cup rice wine vinegar
• 2 tablespoons minced
pickled onions
• 1 diced Hawaiian chili
pepper
Sauce Directions
Place ‘ōpae in a blender and blend to a coarse texture. Combine soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, pickled onion and chili pepper,
and mix.
Serve shrimp and ono
with ‘ōpae dipping sauce.
